Moderated by Prof. Sascha von Meier from UC Berkeley, this panel introduced the ARPA-E funded NI4AI effort, built on PingThings’ PredictiveGrid platform. Use case examples involving different types of data analytics from academia and utility practice highlight the role of geographic scope, heterogeneity, and real vs. synthetic data for creating new intelligence about the grid. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute comments and ideas about how this budding infrastructure can best serve their needs.
Panelists include Sean Murphy (CEO of PingThings), Mohini Bariya (UC Berkeley), Prof. Luigi Vanfretti and Dr. Tetiana Bogodorova (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), and Dr. Kevin Jones (Dominion Energy).
PingThings
PingThings partners with forward thinking utilities to take advantage of a structural shift to artificial intelligence in the energy industry driven by the grid's growing complexity. PingThings solves these issues with the PredictiveGrid™, a purpose built platform for ingesting, storing, accessing, visualizing, analyzing, and training machine- and deep-learning models with data from large numbers of sensors. The platform is offered as an on-premise appliance, and in either a public or private cloud. Benchmarks indicate that we are at least two orders of magnitude faster than competitors.
